WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
Music West Institute welcomes back its returning students for 2008-2009 & makes special invitation to all its new students to immerse themselves in all the great musical opportunities provided by Music West's many study & performance programs. We, at Music West, are committed to musical excellence, mentoring young creative musical minds.
Although a longstanding collaborative professional relationship, this year marks the 1st official collaboration of two of San Diego's outstanding flutists/pedagogues; Ms. Vivian Bergova, M.A., & Dr. September Payne, DMA who have combined teaching forces under Music West Institute for Flute at both Carmel Valley & Rancho Bernardo “Learning Tree School” campuses.
Dr. September Payne, co-founder of Music West, is Adjunct Flute Professor, Assistant Lecturer of Music History at SDSU on staff at Grossmont and Mesa Colleges.
Dr. Payne has performed Principal Flute with San Diego Chamber Orchestra and the San Diego Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet. In addition, she is the former Director of Winds & Brass at the California Institute of Music & has conducted the San Diego's Civic Youth Wind Ensemble & flute choirs. September is former President to the San Diego Flute Guild.
Ms. Vivian Bergova, founder of Music West, studied in Prague Conservatory receiving a Master of Arts degree & extended her studies with the most famous flutist of the 20th century: Jean Pierre Rampal.
Ms. Bergova is instrumental in developing young students as 1st place winners, in most San Diego competitions. She is a National Flute Association, CA Music Teacher Association &, San Diego Flute Guild member
