“Certificate of Merit Program” News
Certificate of Merit (CM) provides a systematic & comprehensive study to develop performance skill, technique, ear-training, sight reading & understanding of musical theory & to encourage students to strive for musical excellence.
The 10 levels in CM (which do not necessarily correspond to age or school grade) are designed to help students better understand the correlation between theory & performance in a progressive fashion from elementary repertoire & basic musical concepts up through advanced material.
Annual evaluations are held in late Spring & require a flute performance exam. (Test & accompanist fees are not included).
In addition, students take theory & ear training tests evaluated by accredited teachers from The Music Teachers Association of California.
